Temporary Insurance
How does temporary car insurance work?
It’s essentially pay-as-you-go car insurance that covers you for whatever duration you need – it could be one hour, a day, weekend or even a month. It’s the perfect solution for those who don’t drive all-year round and cannot commit to an annual contract.
If you borrow someone else’s car, your cover wouldn’t impact the owners’ no claims bonus. It’s a quick and simple option for those who need to borrow a car or van.

Am I eligible?
You must be aged between 17 and 75, and have a full, valid UK driving licence.
If you’re aged between 17 and 21, and it’s for your own car, you need to have clocked up at least 6 months on your licence.
You should have no more than 9 penalty points, and have no disqualifications on your licence in the last 18 months.
If you have had any fault claims or motoring convictions, this may affect your ability to get temporary cover.
You need to get the car owner’s permission, and agree to take responsibility for getting the right cover.
Is the car eligible?
The car is less than 40 years old
The car should be registered in the UK
You can get cover for a lease car, but not for a hire or rental vehicle.
